Council hears concerns about erosion at Point Access Road and littering around Nummy Island

Councilmember Robin Casper said the Point Access Road is in need of the Borough’s attention and that she will chair Natural Resources this year. She reported on a recent Go Green Committee meeting with volunteer John Kauterman, who raised concerns about litter tied to uncovered dumpsters leaving Seven Mile Island and about docks being dumped at Nummy Island.
Mr. DeBlasio said an emergency repair was made at the Point about two years ago. He said he visited the site with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to re-evaluate the situation and determine whether the Borough’s 2022 restoration permit remains valid; he said he will update Council after hearing back from DEP. Casper said the Borough’s construction official, Mr. Poudrier, will research existing ordinances and propose any necessary changes.
The work session did not record any formal action; follow-up depends on possible DEP clarification and subsequent ordinance recommendations from the construction official.
