Silver Creek Township fills board vacancy; Helman named chairman, Geyen named vice chairman

The Silver Creek Township Board appointed Andy Christensen to a vacant board seat and completed leadership assignments at its meeting on Sept. 3, 2024.
The board discussed the resignation of Chris Newman and, on a motion by Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen seconded by Supervisor Ryan Nelson, moved to fill the vacancy; the motion was recorded as carried 3-0. Andy Christensen was sworn in during the meeting.
Later in new business, Geyen moved to assign Mike Helman as chairman; Supervisor Andy Christensen seconded. Helman abstained from that vote, and the board recorded the motion as carried 3-0. Helman then moved to assign Geyen as vice chairman, seconded by Supervisor Ryan Nelson; Geyen abstained and the motion was recorded as carried 3-0.
The actions closed the board’s leadership questions for this term; the board adjourned after routine business. The board will continue regular meetings and follow up on other agenda items at the next scheduled session.
