Supervisor Mike Helman gave a budget update Aug. 6, saying he expects to carry over roughly $160,000 in the General Fund and $600,000 in the Road & Bridge Fund at year end and proposed starting an equipment fund to reduce the need for loans.
The board approved a motion (mover: Supervisor Brandon Geyen; second: Supervisor Sandy Forsman) to spend up to $4,500 on needed loader repairs, a motion that carried 4-0. Maintenance staff reported extra grading after recent rains and that a new hire is training on the grader. Chris (last name not stated) will prepare grant paperwork for a culvert replacement.
Supervisor Helman also reported clean-up day expenses totaled $6,293.63 with income of $7,333.00. The board agreed to receive an updated budget each month and to consider an equipment fund to handle future capital needs without borrowing.
