At its July 9 meeting, the Silver Creek Township Board approved a slate of routine administrative actions. Chairman Chris Newman moved, and Vice Chairman Mike Helman seconded, that Julie Urbatch be appointed deputy clerk; the motion carried 4-0. The board also agreed to place a one-week job advertisement in the Drummer for the open clerk position at a cost of $177.20.
Vice Chairman Mike Helman moved and Supervisor Sandy Forsman seconded a motion to proceed with negotiations for a new township printer; that motion carried 4-0. The board further moved to sign the liquor license for the Hasty Truck Stop on a motion from Chairman Newman and a second from Supervisor Brandon Geyen; that motion also carried 4-0.
Under old business, the board noted a reminder about the Wright County township officers meeting, which Supervisors Helman and Forsman plan to attend. The board discussed a potential driveway culvert policy; the township attorney advised it could be included in the Right of Way Policy. The board scheduled review of three ordinances — the Driveway Ordinance, Right of Way Ordinance and Right of Way Obstruction Ordinance — for the August 20 meeting. Supervisors Helman and Forsman were named the hiring committee for the clerk recruitment and the board noted they had received few applications.
The meeting minutes record routine approval of prior minutes (June 4 and June 21) and the list of claims/disbursements by motions that carried 4-0. The meeting was called to order at 7:55 p.m. and adjourned at 8:55 p.m.; minutes were submitted by Interim Clerk/Treasurer Nancy Betzler and approved by the board on July 16, 2024.
