Stillwater Township Board of Education elects Krista Galante president, Cheryl Williver vice president

The Stillwater Township Board of Education elected Krista Galante as board president and Cheryl Williver as vice president at its reorganization meeting on Jan. 5, 2026, held in the Stillwater School Library. The board also adopted its 2026 meeting schedule and named delegates to county and state school-board associations.

Board Secretary René Metzgar opened nominations. Mrs. Williver nominated Krista Galante for president with a second from Mrs. Valeich; Galante had accepted the nomination by prior email. A roll-call vote recorded unanimous support among members present and Galante was elected president. For vice president, Mr. Franek nominated Cheryl Williver with a second from Mrs. Frey; Williver was unanimously elected by roll call and the meeting was turned over to her to continue the reorganization agenda.

The board approved its annual calendar, scheduling Committee of the Whole sessions and regular meetings in the Stillwater School Library (with several dates altered and noted in the adopted schedule). Delegates were named to two associations: Jennifer Kraft as delegate (alternate Cheryl Williver) to the Sussex County School Boards Association, and Dennis DeGroat as delegate (alternate Darrick Franek) to the New Jersey School Boards Association. Committee sign-up forms were distributed for members to designate chairs and committee assignments.

The actions formalize leadership and administrative contacts for the district as it moves into the new school year. No substantive policy changes were made to standing programs during the reorganization meeting; the board’s adopted policy manual remains the district’s governing policy document for 2026.
