The Stillwater Township Board of Education on Nov. 3 approved routine board business including meeting minutes and financials and a slate of personnel actions, and after an executive session approved a settlement agreement and an education services contract.
At the start of the meeting the board voted to approve the Oct. 14 regular and executive session minutes and certified the Board Secretary's and Treasurer's Reports for Sept. 30, 2025 as balanced with $3,710,651.60 on hand, a certification made pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23‑16.10(c)3. The motion was moved by Mr. DeGroat, seconded by Mrs. Thibault and approved by voice vote with one member absent.
Under Personnel the board approved professional‑day requests and two substitute paraprofessionals/main‑office secretaries, Jennifer DeYong and Madeline Geweke, pending criminal‑history/background checks. The board also approved a short‑term contract for Lisa Grau to serve as a part‑time RTI interventionist leave replacement (three days per week, approximately Nov. 10–30, 2025) at a daily rate of $305.06 with no benefits, to be paid on the district's substitute schedule; and a contract for Richard Hatch as a part‑time, 12‑month custodian at 25 hours per week at $15.49 per hour, no benefits, pending background check. Those personnel motions passed on roll‑call with all present voting aye and one member absent.
Following an executive session to discuss legal matters, the board approved a settlement agreement regarding EDS #14283‑25 for student #27504027; the board did not disclose details in public session. The board also approved a contract with SEARCH Learning Group effective Nov. 10, 2025 through June 30, 2026, at a rate of $752.00 per day. Both motions passed on roll‑call with all voting aye (one absence recorded).
A budget item approved earlier in the meeting authorized transfers for Sept. 1–30, 2025. The board also accepted a donation from Dean Voris of apple seeds for a preschool growing contest; the donation’s value was recorded as TBD and one board member abstained on that item.
The meeting concluded after the post‑executive‑session votes. The administration will proceed with hiring steps for approved positions and with executing the SEARCH contract per the board’s approvals.
