Stillwater Township Board approves revised audited reports and adopts 2025–26 district and board goals

The Stillwater Township Board of Education voted Oct. 14 to approve revised, post‑audit Board Secretary's and Treasurer's Reports and to adopt the district's and board's goals for 2025–26.

The board approved revised financials that show balances of $3,370,954.13 (June 30, 2025), $3,750,656.77 (July 31, 2025) and $3,662,490.39 (August 31, 2025). The motions were presented together as part of routine board business and carried on voice/roll‑call votes. Mr. DeGroat moved the package and Mrs. Thibault seconded; the board recorded two abstentions during the votes, with Mrs. Kraft abstaining on motion #1 and Mrs. Voris recorded as abstaining, and otherwise the motions passed.

The board also approved the district's 2025–26 goals, which include implementing a universal screener and pilot instructional programs, establishing a student advisory council to help craft a "portrait of a cougar cub," and piloting a character education program to advance social‑emotional learning. Board goals adopted for 2025–26 commit members to support the new administration, pursue training and complete a board self‑evaluation, and to maintain open communication with the community on school funding changes.

Board members voted to form an ad‑hoc Board Goals Committee (maximum four members) to develop action plans; appointed members are Cheryl Williver, Jen Kraft and Margaret Frey with Christine Voris designated as an alternate. The motion to form the committee was moved by Mrs. Thibault and seconded by Mr. DeGroat and carried unanimously.

The board's approval of the revised financial reports follows the district's audit process and certifications required under N.J.A.C. 6A:23‑16.10. Business Administrator and Board Secretary René Metzgar will continue to present financial reports and the board indicated the audit presentation will be scheduled for the November meeting.
