Windsor Locks fire board approves FY2026-27 budgets for marshal and department

Windsor Locks — At its Feb. 11 meeting the Board of Fire Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt the Fire Marshal’s proposed FY2026‑27 budget of $100,109.68 and the Fire Department’s FY2026‑27 budget of $598,843.00. Commission Chairman Mark Urso opened each item for motion; Commissioner David Montemerlo moved and Commissioner Roy Zettlemoyer seconded both motions. All commissioners present voted in favor; Commissioner Daniel Flanagan was absent.
The Fire Marshal’s budget vote followed a monthly report from Fire Marshal Michael Sinsigalli, who summarized inspection activity and revenues that provided context for the appropriation decisions. The department’s budget vote likewise followed the chief’s operational update on call volumes, mutual aid activity and equipment testing.
The board also approved routine meeting minutes for Jan. 14 and Jan. 21, 2025, on motions by Montemerlo with seconds from Zettlemoyer; both motions passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
Why it matters: The approved budgets set spending for inspections, equipment testing, and operational responses in the coming fiscal year and follow reported revenue and inspection trends presented by the Fire Marshal and chief. The board indicated no roll-call dissent on the appropriations.
