The superintendent reported the district is under a state compliance review for indicator 13, which concerns transition services for students with disabilities at the secondary level; required documentation has been submitted and district staff are monitoring compliance timelines.
On facilities and operations, assistant superintendent Sylvia said door replacements and a bus garage roof replacement are underway, an energy performance contract is pending project-manager approval, and PA-system replacements will be scheduled after hours. Transportation numbers increased from last year (the transcript reported transporting 200 pre-K students and 342 out-of-district students, and operating 22 buses). Chartwells is in its second year managing food service; food participation rose more than 34% in September compared with the prior September, partly explained by two additional school days but indicating substantial increase.
The superintendent also outlined the middle-school principal search process and said the board will consider retaining HYA (Hazard Young and Attea, as read into the record) as consultants to run a public-facing search with town-hall feedback and a goal of appointing a candidate before the start of July; administrators said they may appoint an interim if needed.
