KEDC, RCAC to offer no-cost private well assessments in August

Melissa Showalter, executive director of Kodiak Economic Development Corporation (KEDC), told the assembly the organization is partnering with Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) to offer no-cost private well assessments for Kodiak road-system residents on August 12–13.
Showalter said the assessments will include an individual well inspection, water sample testing for common indicators, a written report with recommendations, a well-owner resource package, and follow-up technical assistance. RCAC estimates the value of the service at about $750 per participant; KEDC is offering it at no cost to participants. Slots are limited to about eight assessments per day; KEDC will create a wait list and consider a second visit later in the season if demand warrants.
