The South Plainfield council scheduled a final-adoption public hearing for ordinances 2336 through 2339 for Feb. 3 at approximately 7 p.m., Council President White said. The council also approved a set of resolutions and a payment of bills during the meeting and voted to move into executive session.
Council President White led roll call at the start of the meeting and announced that multiple procedural motions passed by recorded vote. Motions to adopt grouped resolutions in the 25-61 through 25-74 range were moved and seconded and recorded by roll call. A separate motion on resolution 25-75 was also moved, seconded and put to a roll call vote; the transcript includes language indicating a recusal during one roll call.
A motion to approve payment of bills was offered and seconded; the clerk noted an amount of $7,669.61 and an additional unclear line item. The chair announced the payment motion passed. Later, Councilman Smith moved for an executive session under resolution 2578; the chair announced the motion passed (roll calls recorded and chair announced consent). The council then recessed into executive session to discuss two items and said it would return as soon as possible.
What happens next: The council set the Feb. 3 public hearing date for the listed ordinances. No final adoptions or substantive debate on those ordinances were recorded in the public portion of the transcript.
