Deephaven staff presented proposed changes to the city's planning fee schedule on July 7 to better capture consultant review time for stormwater mitigation plans and inspections.
Planning Director Pat Smith told the council that planning fees were last updated in 2021 and that the proposal aims to bill Stantec for time spent reviewing stormwater mitigation plans. Smith explained the difference between a Stormwater Mitigation Inspection tied to a conditional use permit and the five-year performance inspection that reviews a stormwater facility’s long-term operation. Smith said the current five-year inspection fee is $150 and that the maintenance inspection fee will be listed explicitly in the fee schedule.
Council directed staff to return for a second reading on Aug. 4, 2025. The proposed changes are framed as a cost-recovery measure so the city and external consultant time reviewing stormwater measures is billed appropriately.
