Deephaven council approves showcase event permit for Northome Road home

The Deephaven City Council on July 7 approved a showcase event permit allowing the newly constructed residence at 3710 Northome Road to participate in the AIA Homes by Architects Tour on Sept. 27–28.
Planning Director Pat Smith presented the staff report saying the applicant expects 250–350 visitors each day and proposes shuttle service using the City-owned lot at Chowen’s Corner, Deephaven Square and Kemmetmueller Photography as overflow. Laurie Hunt, the applicant’s representative, said "the shuttles would pull into the driveway and then back out." Chief Johnson recommended that shuttles "should not be traveling farther south on Northome Road."
Councilmember John Studer moved to accept staff’s recommendation and approve the permit; Councilmember Tom Erdmann seconded. The motion carried 5-0. The approval includes the applicant’s commitment to no onsite guest parking and use of off-site shuttle and overflow lots as described in the staff report.
The permit record notes planned visitor counts and routing for shuttle service; any operational changes or complaints would be handled through the city’s event permit process. The council did not attach additional conditions beyond those in the staff report.
