State Sen. Joe Cryan said the Township of Union’s Wednesday night summer series drew families, kids and vendors and captured “the very best of Union, coming together.” The event featured youth soccer drills, a large screen for World Cup viewing and food vendors that organizers said helped draw a lively crowd.
“People are out … young people playing, soccer balls flying,” Cryan said while standing on-site. He cited the inflatables and family activities as reasons the series is attracting residents of different ages.
Host Edith Thomas introduced Cryan during the segment and noted the night’s mix of vendors, food and activities. Cryan encouraged residents to come to remaining Wednesday events in July and August, saying the series is a strong opportunity for community connection.
The township’s promotional materials and the broadcast said the series will continue on Wednesdays through July and August with giveaways, live music, a DJ, a beer garden and lawn games. Viewers were directed to uniontownship.com for schedules and details.
The episode concluded that the Wednesday night series is intended as a family-friendly, recurring summer program to bring the community together.
