Chicopee License Commission approves senior‑center alcohol permits, change of manager and multiple renewals

The City of Chicopee License Commission on Feb. 19 approved a series of permit requests and license renewals and agreed to require Certificates of Inspection for lodging houses and innholders.
Commissioners voted 3‑0 to approve four Special One‑Day Beer/Wine permits submitted by the Friends of the Chicopee Senior Citizens for events at the River Mills Senior Center: a St. Patrick’s Day dinner on March 12, a Spring Fling on April 9, a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on April 29 and an Annual Summer Cookout on June 25. Commissioner Casey Croteau moved each motion; Commissioner Anna Maria Hamblin seconded. The commission waived the fee and the police detail for each event. The applicants listed Mike Wilk as the contact.
The commission also approved a change of manager for the Eagles, 14 Sheridan St. Lynn Szatrowski told the board she will manage scheduling, ordering and banking duties and said she is TIPS certified. Commissioners approved the change by unanimous vote.
Commissioners approved a Common Victualer license for Chicopee Pizza Restaurant, 76 Main St, pending issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy; the licensing paperwork will note 'no alcohol allowed' on the license and in the cover letter. A slate of 2026 renewals for common victualer licenses was approved pending any required Certificates of Occupancy, and innholder and lodging‑house renewals including Motel 6 were approved as presented. For one incomplete application (Boston Bay Pizza, 515 Montgomery St) the commission approved continuation pending required paperwork and said a hearing will be scheduled if the paperwork is not submitted.
During correspondence the commission said the Policy Book will need updates after consultations with the Building and Fire departments. The Building Department requested that the License Commission require Certificates of Inspection for all Lodging Houses and Innholders; commissioners agreed to make that a requirement going forward.
The meeting convened at 6:00 PM at the River Mills Senior Center and adjourned at 7:30 PM.
