The Planning Board approved an application for 8 Jenkins Court on June 23 to replace existing deteriorated railroad-tie steps with a stone-and-concrete stair and to add a modest portico consistent with neighboring houses.
"They're looking to replace their existing front steps…they're kind of rotting and falling apart," the applicant representative, Dexter, said, explaining the change would bring the new stair setback from roughly 3 feet to about 6.5 feet from the property line, reducing the nonconforming condition.
Dexter said the applicants received zoning board approval earlier in the month and presented samples showing a stone base, black aluminum railings and a portico proportional to nearby houses. Board members described the design as a straightforward improvement and opened a public hearing; no members of the public spoke in person or via Zoom.
A motion to approve the application passed by roll call. The board noted remaining details will be handled through standard permit conditions and that construction must comply with applicable building and zoning requirements.
