Athens airport crews replace transformers and restripe ramp; walkway and RAMP projects still in planning

Public Works Director Shannon Easley reported maintenance and minor capital work completed and underway at the Athens airport during the board’s Jan. 20 special session. Easley said crews "have been working on the maintenance issues" and listed specific work: four transformers serving runway lighting were replaced; the windsock and flags were replaced; insecticide was applied around lights to control ants; barbwire fencing identified at the previous meeting was repaired; and the ramp area was restriped.
Easley said plans for a walkway from the parking lot to the ramp are still being developed and that projects tied to the RAMP grant remain active in planning. No new contract awards or funding decisions were taken at the meeting; the report described maintenance actions and ongoing planning work.
