Athens board says council approved Garver contract; FAA sign-off awaited to start ALP study

City Manager Elizabeth Borstad told the Airport Advisory Board on Jan. 20 that City Council has approved an agreement with Garver for an Airport Layout Plan (ALP) study and that the city is now awaiting final approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. "The City is now waiting for final approval from the FAA and she hopes things will kick off in February," Borstad said.
Chairman Keno Brown asked whether board members wished to attend future briefings; the board subsequently requested that Garver updates be provided to the board as often as possible during the study. The board did not take a formal vote on the study at the special session; Borstad’s update described administrative progress and timing only.
If the FAA grants approval, the ALP study will proceed under the Garver agreement approved by the City Council. The board flagged the ALP as a standing future-agenda item and asked staff to provide frequent progress reports.
