Board adopts seizure-safe, wellness and animals-in-schools policies after service-animal documentation discussion

Administration and legal counsel said federal law prevents requiring proof of immunizations as a condition of access for service animals, but staff acknowledged they will meet with individuals who bring service animals to explain liability expectations and will document those meetings.
Dr. Wilson said administration will provide meetings and documentation to ensure people understand responsibilities for their animals and to record the district's interactions, while noting legal limits on what the district may request. The policies were approved by unanimous roll call.
