Trustees received a financial briefing that showed $47 certificates of deposit totaling about $10.67 million and recent interest receipts. Mr. Thomas said the district's building fund (subfund 502) reported revenue of $38.6 million and expenses of about $36.8 million, leaving a balance just above $3 million.
On local-option sales tax collections, Anderson County received about $7.2 million; Anderson School District 1's share was roughly 33.5% (about $2.4 million), Mr. Thomas said. He explained 20% of that share, approximately $490,000, is reserved for property-tax relief and the remaining $1.963 million is earmarked for capital use.
Dr. Young and Mr. Thomas highlighted that revenue year-to-date was about $115.1 million (about 101% of budget) while year-to-date expenses were reported near $116.6 million; that expenses figure includes a $4.3 million shift toward the building program previously authorized by the board. Administration described the district as being in “good shape” financially by year-end accounting practices.
The procurement report called out a $220,000 charge for student Chromebooks made this year. Separately, administrators said they have negotiated a phased plan to replace football helmets over the next five years rather than a single large one-time purchase, noting that helmets have a roughly 10-year service life.
There were no formal votes tied to these reports beyond routine acceptance and discussion.
