The board used part of its meeting to recognize student and staff achievements. The chair told attendees the district's Crescent High School marching band and color guard "are doing phenomenal things," noting the group earned the highest-ever rating at the state championship and inviting directors and the drum major forward for a photo.
The board recognized three middle school students — Luke Eubanks, Kaden Sutton and Bentley Wilson — as South Carolina Junior Scholars after explaining that the state PSAT given to eighth graders helps identify students for talent-search opportunities and early scholarship tracking.
The board also presented its November Bus Driver of the Month award to Karen Pitzer Hunagger after a nomination from Emily Wilson at the middle school that praised Hunagger's consistent encouragement of students and staff.
Board members and attendees applauded the honorees and took photos; the chair thanked parents for supporting students and invited those who did not wish to stay for the remainder of the meeting to leave.
