Piperton accepts clean FY2025 audit; approves surplus and donation of equipment

City auditor Linda Coffman of Linda’s Accounting Firm presented the FY2025 audit and reported that financial statements and materials are presented fairly in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and that there were no reportable issues.
Following the audit presentation the board approved Resolution No. 26‑321 to surplus Police Department vehicle #38 (10 years old) and two obsolete receipt printers for sale/disposal. Police Chief Jonathan Roney made the request and Vice‑Mayor Mike Binkley moved the resolution; Commissioner Ronnie Gross seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The board also approved Resolution No. 26‑322 at Chief Reed Bullock’s request to donate out‑of‑service rescue tools and replaced breathing apparatus to the Marshall County, Mississippi Fire Department, to surplus two older donated vehicles for sale and to dispose of an old copier. Vice‑Mayor Binkley moved the resolution; Commissioner Russ Fletcher seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Both resolutions were approved without further conditions recorded in the meeting minutes.
