At a March 11 regular meeting, the Maynardville City Commission unanimously approved three resolutions and adopted an ordinance addressing abandoned property.
Commissioner Len Padgett moved to adopt Resolution R-2025-05, concerning water and sewer adjustments; Commissioner Conner Chesney seconded and the measure passed on a 5-0 roll call. Padgett then moved to adopt Resolution R-2025-06, authorizing a special census; Commissioner Jennipher Ford seconded and the commission again voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution. Commissioner Ty Blakely moved adoption of Resolution R-2025-07, a K9 standard operating guidelines update; Commissioner Conner Chesney seconded and the measure passed unanimously.
The commission considered Ordinance O-2025-03, an ordinance to address abandoned property. The ordinance was approved on first reading following a motion from Commissioner Conner Chesney and a second from Commissioner Jennipher Ford. A public hearing on O-2025-03 opened at 7:06 p.m.; the minutes record that no members of the public spoke and the meeting was called back to order at 7:07 p.m. The commission approved the ordinance on second reading by a 5-0 roll call vote and the ordinance was adopted.
The agenda listed reports from the city attorney, city engineer, city manager, the police and fire chiefs and a finance report, but the minutes record no substantive remarks under those sections. Commissioners recorded no additional comments. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
The minutes show motions and roll-call votes for each action; the record does not include further detail about the content of the water and sewer adjustments, the scope or provider for the special census, or the specific changes in the K9 SOG. Those details were not specified in the minutes.
