"We have a lot of housing events in April to mark this special occasion," Toby said, noting registration information available at pchf.org.
Minisha Patel, director of community impact and relations, described a free fair housing summit on April 29 at Polk County River Place that will cover fair housing laws, code enforcement, and homeownership resources in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. "The event is going to be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Free to attend for residents of Des Moines," Patel said.
The proclamation reiterated the city's commitment to nondiscrimination across protected classes and encouraged continued education and enforcement to reduce barriers to housing access. The city and county partners invited residents to attend the scheduled events and trainings during April.
