Morton County Commission approves routine business, multiple abatements and travel requests
Summary
At its April 25 meeting the Morton County Commission unanimously approved the agenda, minutes, bills and payroll, a series of abatements (#6181, #6183, #6186, #6187, #6188-6189, #6190, #6191, #6192-6193), several out-of-state travel requests at no county cost, and accepted a Housing Board resignation.
The Morton County Commission on April 25 conducted routine county business and approved a slate of motions by unanimous vote.
Chairman Nathan Boehm called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Commissioners present were Zachmeier, Jack Leingang, Shane Buckley and Morrell, along with County Auditor Dawn R. Rhone. States Attorney Koppy and Sheriff Kirchmeier were also listed as present in the minutes.
During the consent portion of the meeting, the commission approved the meeting agenda (Morrell moved; Zachmeier seconded) and the minutes of the April 13, 2023 regular meeting (Buckley moved; Zachmeier seconded). Commissioners likewise approved bills and payroll (Leingang moved; Zachmeier seconded).
The commission approved a series of tax abatements individually: #6181 (Leingang moved; Morrell seconded), #6183 (Morrell moved; Leingang seconded), #6186 (Buckley moved; Zachmeier seconded), #6187 (Morrell moved; Leingang seconded), #6188–6189 (Morrell moved; Buckley seconded), #6190 (Leingang moved; Zachmeier seconded), #6191 (Buckley moved; Morrell seconded), and #6192–6193 (Buckley moved; Morrell seconded). All abatements carried with all voting aye.
The commission approved out-of-state travel requests at no cost to the county for Assistant State Attorney Lingle to attend the National Computer Forensics Institute in Hoover, Alabama June 26–30, 2023 and for Assistant State Attorney Richard to attend the same training July 10–14, 2023 (Morrell moved; Leingang seconded). Commissioners also approved travel for Assistant State Attorney Richard to attend the RISE23! National Drug Court Conference in Houston June 26–30, 2023 (Morrell moved; Buckley seconded).
The commission accepted the resignation of Dwight Cook from the Morton County Housing Board and thanked him for his service (Zachmeier moved; Morrell seconded). The minutes record total county funds expended from April 14 through April 25, 2023 as $1,381,359.51 and note that a detailed list of funds expended by check is available for public inspection at the Morton County Auditor’s Office during regular business hours.
Commissioner Morrell moved and Commissioner Leingang seconded to adjourn; the meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m. The minutes were signed by Chairman Nathan Boehm and County Auditor Dawn R. Rhone.
