Pittman Center board approves budget amendment, authorizes property purchase and names municipal judge

At its Nov. 26 meeting the Pittman Center Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a 2024–25 budget amendment (Ordinance No. 335), authorized the city administrator to sign a contract to buy property from the Trustees of Burnett Memorial Global Methodist Church (Resolution No. 244), appointed a planning commissioner and named a new municipal court judge.
The Pittman Center Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted on several administrative measures during a Nov. 26 meeting, approving a budget amendment, authorizing a property purchase contract and making planning and judicial appointments.
Mayor Jerry Huskey called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. and City Administrator Tammy Watts Rochester delivered the administrator’s report. A public hearing and second reading for Ordinance No. 335, amending the town’s 2024–25 fiscal-year budget, was opened and closed at 4:38 p.m. because no members of the public attended. Alderman Cheryl Houston moved to approve Ordinance No. 335; Alderman Billy McCarty seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous voice vote.
The board then considered Resolution No. 244, which authorizes the city administrator to enter into a contract to purchase certain improved real property from the Trustees of Burnett Memorial Global Methodist Church. Alderman Billy McCarty moved approval; Vice Mayor Kevin Howard seconded. The resolution passed by a unanimous voice vote.
Also during new business, the board appointed Brennon Garrett to the Planning Commission to replace Jim Coykendall. The board voted to remove Adam Carr as municipal court judge and to appoint Alex Johnson as the town’s municipal court judge; both motions were moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
City staff noted one outstanding procedural item: questions were raised about whether advertising requirements were followed for Ordinance No. 285. The city administrator said the town attorney will review the records and prepare a recommendation letter.
There were no citizen comments, the chief of police was absent, and the meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
