Ouachita Parish adopts ordinance to sell seven adjudicated parcels

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury on Sept. 2 adopted Ordinance No. 9527 authorizing acts of sale for seven adjudicated properties previously acquired by the parish for nonpayment of taxes.
President Shane Smiley introduced the ordinance, which lists parcel numbers, municipal addresses (where available), purchasers and bid amounts for each property and establishes closing conditions. The ordinance requires that sales be conducted under LA R.S. 47:2201 et seq., be executed on a form approved by the parish attorney, be paid by certified funds, and reserve mineral rights to the parish while conveying surface rights. The parish requires certification from E&P Consulting, LLC that mortgage, conveyance, probate and civil suit records have been examined, and proof of notices required by the statute be filed in parish records prior to closing.
