Public Works committee clears subdivision, change orders and awards road-striping bid

The Public Works Committee, meeting Aug. 4 under chair Lonnie Hudson, recommended several project approvals and contract actions that the Jury later ratified.
The committee recommended granting minor subdivision approval for Fueltrac Randall’s LA LLC (Lot 1 and Lot 2 of Old Sterlington Subdivision) subject to satisfactorily addressing comments from the Public Works department and parish engineer. The committee granted a variance request for Daytona Lane.
Engineer Mr. Crosby presented Change Order No. 3 for Caples Road (authorization requested for Laura Williams to sign), Change Order No. 1 for the Fire Department New Natchitoches Road ditch enclosure, and Change Order No. 1 for the Frenchman’s Bend Phase III, Unit 4 drainage project; the committee recommended approval of those change orders and accepted substantial completion for the Frenchman’s Bend Phase III, Unit 4 drainage project.
The committee presented bid results for road striping of school zones on parish roads and recommended accepting the low/acceptable bid from Highway Graphics, LLC for $111,950.00. The committee also authorized advertising for bids to stripe railroad crossings on parish roads. All motions in committee were passed without opposition and later ratified by the full Jury.
