Ouachita Parish Police Jury approves personnel moves, leases and denies liquor license renewals

At its June 16, 2025 meeting the Ouachita Parish Police Jury approved a series of routine administrative and personnel actions.
Public Works requested and the jury approved declaring Asset 15682 (2013 Ford F-150) as surplus and allowing sale at public auction, and declaring Asset 16497 (2016 Ford F-150) as surplus and authorizing transfer to Cheniere Lake at a value of $8,814.00. The jury approved promotions for Jericka Roundtree Jr. to Equipment Operator I and Nicholas Skipper to Equipment Operator II, and approved hires for Tion Corbin (general laborer) and Michael Hair (Auto Mechanic II). The jury also approved the demotion of Kyle McKee to general laborer.
Assistant District Attorney Ms. Johnson recommended and the jury approved leases for three properties (544 Sonny Day Road to Trenton Book and Taylor Cothren; 1200 Auburn Avenue to Reggie Carroll Jr.; and 458 Moore Road to Caroline Landis). The jury approved contract extensions with Volkert, Inc. for debris monitoring and with Ceres Environmental for debris removal, and approved an agreement with the Capital Area Finance Authority. Public Works requested and the jury granted a fire hydrant variance at Sterlington Climate Controlled Storage.
On liquor licensing, Ms. Johnson recommended denying two renewal applications because the applicants did not meet requirements; the jury denied renewals for Loch Arbor Village Mart LLC (Sukhwinder Singh) and Mazatlan Buffet Latino Corporation (Jose Valadez). The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
