The Ouachita Parish Police Jury adopted Ordinance No. 9526 on Aug. 4, 2025, prohibiting operation of tractor-trailers or commercial trucks on John Price Road and Winnfield Cutoff Road in unincorporated Ouachita Parish.
The ordinance includes exemptions for fire apparatus; vehicles and machinery used solely in road construction while engaged in work on the roadway; implements of husbandry (including farm tractors temporarily moved upon a highway); and vehicles making a local delivery or call that requires use of either road. Violations are punishable by a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $500. The ordinance directs the Ouachita Parish Public Works Department to post appropriate signage at the entrances to the identified roads.
The ordinance was submitted to roll call and adopted 6–0 (yeas: Toni Bacon, Jimmy Tyson, Larry Bratton, Michael Thompson, Shane Smiley, Lonnie Hudson).
