Palmer School Committee accepts donations, approves policy revisions and budget transfers, then moves to executive session

At its March 18 meeting the Palmer School Committee approved a set of consent and action items and subsequently moved into executive session to prepare for nonunion personnel negotiations.
By unanimous votes the committee accepted a donation to the Old Mill Pond Elementary music and band department and a separate donation to Palmer High School. It also approved proposed revisions to Section E of the Palmer School Committee Policy Manual and authorized attached budget transfers that have a $0 net impact.
In procedural business, the committee approved the minutes of the Feb. 11 regular meeting (5–0). Chair Bonny Rathbone and other members thanked student representatives and chaperones for recent trips and praised an Old Mill Pond tour attended by several members.
Near the meeting’s end Sandra Noonan moved and Matthew Lovell seconded a motion to enter executive session to review and approve executive session minutes; the roll call vote was unanimous. Committee members then voted to conduct strategy sessions and/or contract negotiations with nonunion personnel (the Director of Student Services and the Director of Finance and Operations) and not return to the regular meeting. The committee adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
