The Palmer School Committee on Sept. 17 unanimously approved Superintendent Matthew Francis’s proposed goals for the 2025–26 school year and accepted multiple community donations, the committee said at a regular meeting at the high school library.
The committee voted 4–0 to approve the superintendent’s goals — which the superintendent described as focusing on student learning (evaluation calibration exercises), professional practice (completion of a New Superintendent Induction Program, year three) and district improvement (a curriculum review for bias). Committee member Anthony Braden moved the motion and Sandra Noonan seconded; the motion carried without dissent.
The meeting also recorded several donations accepted by the committee. The board approved acceptance of a school supply donation from Baystate Wing Hospital; a donation of eight winter coats (estimated value: $50) from Ms. Kassidy Neilsen; a school-supplies donation from Ms. Kara Dempter (items not specified in the transcript); and a school-supplies donation from the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce. Each donation was approved by unanimous vote (4–0) following a motion and second.
Procedural business included approval of the minutes from the Aug. 20, 2025 regular meeting. The minutes were approved on a motion by Anthony Braden, seconded by Sandra Noonan, with a unanimous voice vote.
The committee adjourned at 6:52 p.m. on a unanimous motion. No formal dissent or abstentions were recorded in the transcript.
