Palmer — Members of the Palmer community raised logistical and funding concerns during public comment on Oct. 15, and student representatives reported a series of school events and fundraisers.
Ms. Sandra Noonan told the committee that "a number of people are delighted that Heather Korzec was named the 2024-2025 MIAA Field Hockey Coach of the Year for Palmer High School," and that several constituents "approached Ms. Noonan about the PHS Athletic Hall of Fame — concerned that the schools are no longer paying for the plaques that remain at the high school." Ms. Bonny Rathbone also noted community confusion about GoFan ticketing, saying some spectators are unsure whether events accept cash and complaining about associated fees.
Student representatives provided calendars of recent and upcoming activities. PHS student rep Kelsey Coyle listed bus evacuation drills (Sept. 23), a Unified Basketball fundraiser (Sept. 30), College Information Night (Oct. 20), Homecoming events (Oct. 27–Nov. 1) and MCAS retake dates (Nov. 5–6, Nov. 12–13). OMP student reps Jayden and James reported that the Scholastic Book Fair raised more than $4,000 and resulted in over 400 donated books, and listed other elementary activities including Grandparents Day and Trunk or Treat.
Committee members acknowledged the reports and congratulated students and staff; no formal action on the public comments was recorded in the minutes.
