Ada council hires new administrator, tentatively accepts OPBA contract and approves claims registers

On a 6–0 roll call, council approved hiring Casey Smith as Village Administrator effective June 15, 2026, at an annual salary of $90,000 with benefits as described in the personnel manual (motion by Ms. Mason, second by Mr. Wells). The hire was recorded as a formal vote with six ayes. Casey Smith had been present via Zoom earlier in the meeting’s attendance list and will assume the administrator role on the stated start date.
Also on a 6–0 vote, council tentatively accepted terms of a contract with the OPBA covering July 1, 2026–June 30, 2029 (motion by Ms. Coressel, second by Mr. Rowe). The minutes say final wording will be completed and forwarded to council for approval; no final contract language appears in the minutes and the acceptance was recorded as tentative.
Council approved a series of claims registers: 2026-11A ($111,335.11; motion Mr. Beck; second Mr. Rowe), 2026-11B ($66,493.91; motion Ms. Mason; second Mr. Beck), and 2026-11C ($24,931.79; motion Ms. Coressel; second Mr. Rowe), each on unanimous recorded votes. Claims register 2026-11D ($274.48; motion Mr. Beck; second Ms. Coressel) was approved with five ayes and one abstention (Ms. Mason).
The meeting also included the swearing‑in of two patrol officers, Madeline Kelley (full time) and Caitlin Martin (part time), by Council President Jason Campbell. Fiscal Officer Patty Navin reported that pool cleaning was completed and the pool opened June 2, and noted that May bank reconciliations were provided and the auditor was scheduled to be on site the following two days. Police Chief Alec Cooper reported 84 calls for service, nine incident/offense reports, and three vehicle accident reports since the last council meeting.
Next steps recorded in the minutes: final OPBA contract wording will be prepared and circulated to council for formal approval; Casey Smith is scheduled to begin as administrator on June 15, 2026.
