East Windsor board honors students and staff, and recognizes outgoing leaders

The East Windsor School Board opened its meeting with student and staff recognitions, celebrating a National Merit letter of accommodation and three Crystal Apple awardees before thanking outgoing leaders.

Mrs. Kaminsky introduced Elizabeth Ronald, noting that Elizabeth "scored high enough to be recognized" on the PSAT administered Oct. 24 and presented her with a letter of accommodation. School leaders applauded the student’s academic achievement.

The board then presented its Crystal Apple quarterly staff awards, a staff-recognition program run in partnership with Horseman. Mr. Ryan introduced Cecilia Rose, calling her "an asset to the special education department" for her work managing student behavior, academic support and extra duties. At the middle school, Mrs. Fischer was honored for leading the UA team, her role on the MTSS behavior team and organizing multiple Scholastic book fairs that increase student access to books. At the high school, administrators recognized art teacher Cat Mlullen for creating a supportive classroom culture and consistently posting student work in hallways to showcase achievement.

District leadership also presented board-of-education recognition to two outgoing members, Kate and Heather, identified as the board’s chair and vice chair. Colleagues praised their years of service — discussed during the meeting as roughly five to nine years — and presented flowers and cards. Courtney, speaking on behalf of colleagues, said the two had been "a big part of the positive direction our schools are going."

The meeting encouraged the guests to stay or to leave after the commendations, and then proceeded to routine business.
