Ridgetop board adopts code amendment, appoints vice mayor and approves street and park work

Roll call recorded Mayor Tim Shaw, Alderman Gregory, Alderman Kristen Harrison, Alderman Martin, Vice Mayor Senft, City Recorder Kelly Rider and Attorney Russell Freeman as present. The council approved the Oct. 29, 2024 minutes on a motion by Alderman Kristen Harrison, seconded by Alderman Gregory.
In a formal action during Old Business, the board took up Ordinance 2024-105, described in the agenda as an amendment to section 4-308 of the City of Ridgetop Municipal Code. Vice Mayor Senft moved to accept the ordinance on second reading; Alderman Kristen Harrison seconded and the motion carried with all voting in favor.
Judge William Johnson then administered the oath of office to the newly elected officials: Mayor Tim Shaw, Alderman Kristen Harrison and Alderman Dale Gilmore. Following the swearing-in, Alderman Gregory moved to appoint Kristen Harrison as vice mayor; Alderman Martin seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The board approved commission and department assignments on a motion from Alderman Gregory, which Alderman Gilmore seconded. The appointments placed Alderman Harrison on Finance and Administration and Parks and Recreation, Mayor Shaw on Public Works and Utilities, Alderman Gilmore on Planning and Zoning and Code Administration, Alderman Martin on Community and Economic Development, and Alderman Gregory on Fire and Police.
The council approved Resolution 27-07, granting check-signing authority for the city’s bank accounts, and authorized a bid advertisement for paving of the Fire Hall parking lot. Alderman Gregory moved to approve a contract with OHM for asset management mapping (no contract amount specified in the transcript), and the motion passed. The board also approved a gas line installation for Plumel Lane; the transcript did not specify project cost.
Alderman Martin requested and the council added two street-safety items to the agenda. Alderman Harrison said the Annual Gas Christmas Parade will be Dec. 6, 2024, with cookies and a visit from Santa afterward at Ridgetop Station Park.
The council voted to cancel the Dec. 16 workshop and the Dec. 17 city meeting. With no further business, Alderman Harrison moved to adjourn; Alderman Martin seconded and the meeting adjourned by unanimous consent.
