Ridgetop — City utility staff reported substantial progress on sewer inflow and infiltration (I/I) work and the mayor said the city should consider adding a third full‑time worker to support gas and sewer operations.
Mayor Shaw summarized utilities work: the gas department completed 39 811 locate tickets and replaced a 2‑inch gas main as part of an emergency repair; the contractor on that repair was J B Gibbs and the meeting record lists the cost as $44,285. On the sewer side, staff recorded 39 811 locate tickets, nine service orders, two tanks that were pumped because of pump failures or high sludge levels, and two pumps changed.
The meeting included a detailed I/I project update: staff reported 35 tanks pumped and inspected; seven control panels changed; 29 lids replaced; 25 risers repaired or replaced; 15 pumps changed; 26 filters replaced; and 10 electrical repairs completed. Mayor Shaw said he believed the utility department needed a third full‑time employee to help with gas and sewer operations; the council did not take final action on staffing at the meeting.
The council also approved paving projects and other routine business in the same session. Any formal hiring or budget change to add staff would require future action, the mayor indicated.
