The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Ridgetop on Oct. 29 accepted the city’s 2023–2024 audit and voted unanimously to authorize $4,500 to Crosslin CPA to prepare a single audit for one major federal program.
Erica Saeger of Crosslin CPA told the board the firm issued a draft unmodified opinion — commonly called a ‘‘clean’’ opinion — and found no disagreements with management and no indications of fraud. Saeger said, however, that auditors identified one material weakness that has been reported since 1998 and included a brief update in the financial report.
Saeger said federal grant expenditures had exceeded the single-audit reporting threshold of $750,000 by about $5,000, triggering the requirement for a single-audit engagement. "I would like to thank Kelly and the team; they were prepared for the audit, ready when personnel arrived to begin the audit, and very responsive during the audit process," Saeger said.
Alderman Harrison moved to accept the audit and to approve $4,500 for Crosslin to perform the single-audit work; Vice Mayor Senft seconded. The motion passed with all voting in favor.
The board did not adopt any management responses or remedies in the meeting transcript beyond approving the single-audit engagement. The financial statements and the report to the board contain the formal descriptions of the material weakness and the firm’s recommendations.
The council then moved on to other agenda items and adjourned later in the evening.
