Ridgetop mayor and aldermen advance sewer-rate ordinance, appoint park-board member and approve routine actions

The Ridgetop Mayor and Board of Aldermen met July 16, 2024, at City Hall and unanimously approved a string of routine actions, including advancing a sewer-rate ordinance on first reading and appointing a new park-board member.
Mayor Tim Shaw called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. and noted Alderman Harrison and Vice Mayor Senft were absent. During the business portion, the board voted unanimously to approve the minutes of June 18, 2024 (motion: Alderman Gregory; second: Alderman Martin).
On new business, the board moved and carried approval of Ordinance 2024-104 (first reading), described as "An Ordinance Amending Ordinance 2023-105, An Ordinance Establishing Sewer Rates for the Collection and Treatment of Sewage for the City of Ridgetop Sewer System." Alderman Gregory made the motion and Alderman Martin seconded; the board recorded a unanimous vote in favor.
The board also appointed Miranda Shrum to the park board by unanimous vote (motion: Alderman Gregory; second: Alderman Martin). The council approved advertising for bids for a vinyl fence at Ridgetop Station Park (motion: Alderman Gregory) and for work on Red Oak Court (motion: Alderman Martin), both carried unanimously.
Bids for the Shedden Road culvert project were opened and recorded but approval of any bid was deferred to the next meeting. The recorded bid amounts were Jarrett Builders, Inc.: $627,000.00; Brown Builders, Inc.: $924,220.50; and L & G Construction Company: $428,198.90. Mayor Shaw moved to defer bid approval; Alderman Martin seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
On utilities, the board authorized JB Gibbs to repair or replace nine 2-inch gas valves and one 2-inch gas main (motion: Alderman Gregory; second: Alderman Martin), approved unanimously. Department reports included Mayor Shaw saying the gas department completed 35 811 locate tickets, three service orders and replaced five valves; the sewer department completed 35 locate tickets, six service orders, replaced three pumps, pumped one tank because of a bad pump/high sludge level, and repaired a sewer main on Lynn Circle. Alderman Gregory reported the fire department had 33 calls during the month. Mayor Shaw also announced Food Truck Friday at Ridgetop Station Park on July 19, 2024.
The meeting concluded with a motion to schedule a city workshop for August 19, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.; the motion carried unanimously. With no further business, the board adjourned.
