The Bamberg County School District Board of Trustees voted March 3 to accept teacher teams' selections of new math textbooks for district adoption.
Superintendent Dr Brown described the state-led vetting process that produced a state-approved list after 75 vendors submitted materials; that list was narrowed by a committee of more than 200 educators and administrators. District teacher teams then evaluated the state-approved offerings, reviewed materials at curriculum showcases and caravans, and chose the texts the board approved.
Board members noted the value of being able to "put your hands on" the materials during review and asked that the books be available in the district office for member review following the meeting. The board approved the textbook selections with no recorded opposition.
