Bamberg County School District swears in newly elected trustees

Attorney Charles Boy administered the oath to the new members, including Catherine Griffin, Tanya A. Sanders, David W. Quarter and Jennifer Bunch, each concluding the oath with "so help me God." The board chair led the Pledge of Allegiance and a brief moment of silence.
The oath ceremonies were followed by brief remarks welcoming the new trustees and reflecting on the district's recent consolidation with Denmark schools. An unnamed trustee, speaking about personal ties to the district, said the district "has been a major part of my life since 1965" and praised the cooperation of prior appointed board members during consolidation. The chair welcomed the new members by name where possible and urged trustees to keep student interests central, saying board members "may or may not always agree on everything but at the end of the day when you walk out of here can you live with the decision that you made."
Board attorney Charles Boy reminded trustees of compliance obligations and post‑swearing requirements (see related article). The meeting closed after a brief clarification that members who are to be sworn in at the next meeting serve in a legal holdover status until their successors are identified and qualified.
The board set no votes or formal actions at the special meeting; the district expects to resume regular business at upcoming meetings once newly elected trustees are fully oriented.
