Arcadia Lakes council approves several procedural ordinances, emergency tree work and vacancies notice

The Arcadia Lakes Town Council voted unanimously Oct. 3 to approve several procedural ordinances and take administrative actions, Mayor Mark W. Huguley and Mayor Pro Tem Linda Jackson said during the meeting.
Mayor Mark W. Huguley made motions at the meeting and Mayor Pro Tem Linda Jackson seconded; each motion carried unanimously with council members Jim Cullen, Janet Holland and Peter Chesney joining the votes. The meeting record lists Elizabeth S. Krajewski as town clerk/treasurer and Scott Elliott as town attorney in attendance.
The council approved the second reading of an ordinance barring amendments to the meeting agenda after a session has begun and another second-reading ordinance that limits public comment to three minutes; the council directed the town to post the public-comment rule in the council room. The council also approved an ordinance intended to make it unlawful to disclose discussions held in executive session and approved the second reading of an ordinance to establish a code enforcement officer for the town.
Council members authorized an emergency service agreement with Brown’s Tree Service to cut and remove curbside debris, limited to material within 20 feet of the center of the road. The council additionally asked the town clerk to post notice on the town website announcing two open seats: one on the planning commission and one on the zoning board.
Earlier in the meeting Mayor Pro Tem Linda Jackson moved to approve the Sept. 5, 2024 council meeting minutes with corrections; Council Member Janet Holland seconded and the motion carried. Town minutes record that a landscaping and irrigation project has begun at the town-owned lot on Formosa Drive as part of the beautification update.
The meeting thereafter adjourned.
