Land-use matters at the July 7 Medina board meeting included a first-reading rezoning request for a West Church Avenue property and a second-reading vote to set zoning for newly annexed parcels.
Owner Clay Goodrich asked to rezone 357 West Church Ave (Tax Map 176, Parcel 002.00) from B-1 (General Business) to R-2 (High Density Residential) for proposed duplex construction. After discussion the board asked Goodrich to provide a rendering of the duplexes he would build if rezoning is approved; the board then voted to table the ordinance until the next meeting so staff and the applicant can provide the requested materials.
Separately, on second reading the board set municipal zoning to R-1 (Low Density Residential) for properties to be annexed adjacent to the corporate limits (Tax Map 172, Parcels 7.00, 7.01, 11.01, 12.00, & 12.01), comprising approximately 122 acres. The motion passed 4-0 with Alderman Kevin Painter recorded as abstaining.
The board also reviewed — but did not adopt — an ordinance to permit the sale of beer at Beyond Par Indoor Golf; members asked that the city attorney review changes discussed and requested the ordinance be brought back at the next meeting.
The board asked the rezoning applicant to supply a site rendering for review before further consideration; a separate attorney review will inform the next steps on the beer-sale ordinance.
