River Ridge board accepts resignation of Supervisor James Gilman; begins solicitation process for replacement

The River Ridge Community Development District board accepted Supervisor James Gilman’s resignation from Seat 1 on Aug. 27, 2024 and agreed on a process to solicit candidates to fill the unexpired term.
Mrs. Adams presented Mr. Gilman’s resignation letter and the board approved acceptance on a motion by Supervisor Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Supervisor Robert Twombly. Because this will be an appointment rather than an election, the board directed that Mr. Long and The Meadows’ property‑owner association manager send an e‑blast to residents describing the vacancy, candidate qualification requirements and instructions for submitting a resume or letter of interest prior to the next meeting.
The board also reviewed standard onboarding items — administration of the oath of office, required ethics training, Form 1 and Form 8B disclosure guidance, and the Sunshine Amendment code of ethics materials — but deferred formal administration of the oath and related items to a future meeting packet.
Why it matters: Seat 1 represents a portion of the district (The Meadows). The board’s outreach plan begins the appointment process and provides residents the opportunity to apply before the next meeting.
Next steps: Staff will include candidate submissions on the next agenda and present any resumes or letters of interest; the board will act to appoint a replacement to serve through November 2026.
