A representative from Reidville Presbyterian Church raised concerns about potential stormwater and drainage impacts to adjacent properties during the Jan. 20, 2026 Reidville Advisory Committee meeting. Church concerns were noted when Davis & Floyd consultants discussed site contours and impervious-surface implications for the conceptual plan.
Michael Ethridge and Mr. Dawkins said the conceptual planning phase includes evaluation of building massing, impervious surfaces and stormwater volumes, and that detailed engineering will occur later in the design process. They said existing stormwater infrastructure associated with the former elementary school site may be expanded and that runoff is intended to be captured and managed on-site and discharged appropriately to avoid impacts to adjacent properties.
The exchange did not produce technical calculations or a final design; consultants emphasized that hydrologic and drainage studies and subsequent engineering are required to determine final stormwater infrastructure needs. The advisory team listed the stormwater management area near the former school site as part of the conceptual program and noted that technical review will be part of the next-phase work.
Next steps include completion of surveys, topography, utilities and existing-conditions work and refinement of conceptual plans and cost analysis; detailed stormwater design will be performed in that technical phase.
