The Houghton Lake Community Schools Board of Education opened a special meeting Oct. 27 and unanimously approved the meeting agenda.
A consent-agenda item included a recommendation to hire Nicholas Grencz as the district bowling coach at a listed salary of $3,630.24. The consent agenda was approved by motion of Boals, supported by Souder; the action was recorded as passing 5-0.
The meeting recorded attendance as Oster, Boals, Souder, Halliday and Jeske present with Christian and Whittington absent. No public comment was received during the public-comment period.
These routine procedural approvals and the consent hire were handled before the board moved into a closed session later in the meeting for a student-discipline hearing. The special meeting concluded at 7:13 PM.
