PVTA reports mixed ridership trends, bus procurements and early results from new Link 413 service

PVTA told the MPO that January ridership was down 4% (storm-related), February had been trending higher before another storm, that replacement-bus orders were placed with an 18‑month build time, and that the new Link 413 intercity route carried 108 passengers since launch.
PVTA staff updated the MPO on recent system performance and equipment procurement.
PVTA reported January ridership was down 4% compared with the previous period and attributed the decrease to a storm that curtailed service Jan. 25–26. February ridership was tracking about 6% higher than the prior year before another storm reduced service, which will affect the month’s totals.
PVTA has placed orders for replacement transit buses of 35‑, 40‑ and 60‑foot lengths; staff said typical bus build times are about 18 months. PVTA also reported that the Link 413 intercity service connecting Pittsfield, North Adams, Greenfield and Northampton began service about a month earlier and has carried 108 passengers so far.
PVTA also completed an exit conference with state auditors on a battery‑electric bus audit and had not received a final report or indication of findings at the exit conference.
