Pioneer Valley MPO endorses recommended rural and urban freight corridors for submission to MassDOT

Staff presented a set of recommended rural and urban critical freight corridor segments and asked the MPO to endorse them for submission to MassDOT’s 2027 freight plan. Andy explained the rural list still needs some additional build‑out in future versions and that the urban list had been trimmed compared with previous drafts.
The MPO had no substantive objections; a member asked whether such releases typically attract public comment and staff replied that freight-corridor recommendations have previously generated some public feedback, but not in this round. The MPO voted to endorse the corridors and staff will submit them to MassDOT for consideration in the statewide freight plan update.
Staff noted endorsement is the regional recommendation step; MassDOT will make the final determination for the 2027 freight plan.
