PVTA presents safety targets for fixed‑route and paratransit; MPO releases targets for public review

Examples he cited for fixed‑route targets include a major events target of five (rate 0.1 per 100,000 vehicle revenue miles), total collisions target of 65 (rate 1.3 per 100,000 vehicle revenue miles), an injuries target of 50 (rate ~1 per 100,000 vehicle revenue miles), and a zero target for fatalities. For paratransit PVTA set lower absolute counts commensurate with fewer vehicle revenue miles, and reliability targets such as miles between breakdowns.
Burns said the targets represent modest year‑over‑year improvements in several categories and will be submitted to the MPO for regional accounting. Following the presentation a motion was made and the MPO unanimously approved releasing PVTA’s safety targets for a 21‑day public review. PVTA staff will post the targets and return with any substantive comments after the review period.
