Morrison board approves minutes, tables park renovation; fire truck bid to be advertised

The Town of Morrison Board of Mayor and Aldermen met Sept. 3, 2024, at Morrison Town Hall and approved minutes from Aug. 5 and Aug. 19, tabled discussion on renovating the town park and was told the fire department will have bid information for a new truck ready to advertise next week, Mayor Sue Anderson said.
Alderman Donald Miller raised a correction to the public-hearing minutes, saying, “A motion to close the public hearing was made by Alderman Jeannine Miller and seconded by Alderman Jones.” He moved to approve the public hearing minutes with that wording; Alderman Sue Jones seconded and the motion passed with all ayes. The board then approved the Aug. 5 regular minutes (moved by Alderman Jeannine Miller, seconded by Alderman Jones) and the Aug. 19 special called meeting minutes (moved by Alderman Donald Miller, seconded by Alderman Jeannine Miller), each by unanimous vote.
On unfinished business, Mayor Anderson told the board no representatives from the fire department were present but that Assistant Chief Blalock had contacted her earlier and “would have bid information for the fire truck ready to advertise next week.” Alderman Donald Miller reported that a replacement part for the library clock has been ordered and is pending delivery.
Alderman Sue Jones asked for an update on renovating Town Park; after a brief discussion Alderman Donald Miller moved to table the matter until further notice. Alderman Jones seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Alderman Jeannine Miller said repairs to the library ceiling will require soliciting bids; no action was taken on that item.
There were no public commenters, no ordinances, and no new business. Alderman Donald Miller moved to adjourn; Alderman Jones seconded and the meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
The meeting record shows five voting members were present (Mayor Sue Anderson and Aldermen William Dillard Sr., Sue Jones, Donald Miller and Jeannine Miller) and one member, Vice Mayor Keith Youngblood, absent.
